Which natural flea and tick products work?
A majority of natural products on the market do not work as the labels suggest. DogCare LLC has done 6 studies on natural products using common active ingredients used in different natural flea and tick products. We tested natural products currently on the market and the results were poor everytime (no fleas or ticks were killed and only a small percentage were repelled).
Natural products are not regulated by the EPA. Regulated products like Collar Me Tickless (collar) and Spot On Bug Off (topical) require proof of the label claims in order to be approved. The EPA reviews the studies and then approves products accordingly. Since Natural products are not regulated like other flea and tick products, natural products do not have to make any proof of the label claim. This allows these companies to sell natural products that have never been tested, or if it was tested there is no requirement for killing fleas and ticks.
According to DogCare LLC's various natural product studies, many of the natural products on the market do not kill fleas and ticks at all.On top of that the repel action is extremely weak or nonexistent.
